Focus on the Beauty of Innovation of Spanish Denim Suppliers

At the Jan. 21-22 run of Kingpins New York at Pier 36/Basketball City, visitors will get a small sampling of Kingpins’ most-recent “Made in…” initiative. Launched last year, the initiative started with a focus on Japanese craftsmanship and then expanded to include a showcase of Spanish innovation. The New York show will include a few of the innovations from the Made in España installation in Amsterdam last October.

Companies participating in Made in España shared a “Community Table,” where each was able to meet with attendees to discuss their products and their company ethos.

There were also several collaborative displays of product focusing on the fashion, latest developments and circularity from Made in España exhibitors.

We recently caught up with Made in Espana participants to talk about what they brought to the project and what they hoped visitors learned.

PINTER GROUP

For Pinter Group, this was our first participation at Kingpins Amsterdam, a valuable opportunity to present ourselves within the Made in Spain area alongside prominent Spanish companies such as Tintes Egara, Asutex, Tejidos Royo, Jeanologia, Textil Santanderina and Recover. We contributed by showcasing our advanced spinning system, a technology designed to produce yarns with up to 75% recycled cotton, setting a new benchmark for sustainable denim production.

We hope visitors understood that innovation is at the core of our work: for us, technology and sustainability are not just trends, but concrete elements that drive every solution we develop. The Made in Spain area highlighted the energy, creativity, and ability of Spanish companies to combine manufacturing tradition with technological progress.

We believe the Kingpins audience should know that working with Spanish companies means choosing partners who combine quality, vision, and a strong collaborative spirit. Participating together in the Made in Spain area demonstrated how creativity, technology, and teamwork are key elements of our industry.

For the Made in España pavilion, we collaborated with Asutex, Tintes Egara, and Pinter Group to create a concept called “Sun, Sand, and Blue Sea,” inspired by the Mediterranean.

We designed three looks based on this concept. The installation featured a blue denim sea represented through threads, denim pieces, and garments arranged on the floor to evoke the movement of waves, dyed in different shades of blue and white. Enzymes were used to symbolize sand at the front and sides of the display.

The overall composition represented the sea and highlighted advancements in denim dyeing techniques.

TEJIDOS ROYO

I hope [show visitors] appreciated the artistry, collaboration, and design behind everything presented—especially the joint effort of all the companies involved. We wanted to leave a strong Spanish imprint. Denim is still very much alive in Spain.

Spanish companies are passionate, creative, and highly collaborative. At Tejidos Royo, our motto is “Make the Impossible” — and that says it all.

ASUTEX

We aimed to showcase our core values through a specific process in the denim industry, highlighting a bit of our history and how one product has created a global impact on the way processes are carried out today.

The exhibition featured an Asutex storytelling journey, starting with timeline videos that illustrated the product’s creation and its evolution over the years.

This was followed by a community space table displaying real chemicals (bringing the chemistry closer to people) and finally their application on different garments in Fashion Installation #2.

We focused on the most sought-after look in denim, the timeless “stone wash” effect, and how since the 1980s we have been working to make this process more sustainable.

At the beginning, our priority was to replace stones in the process, which led to the launch of the first stone replacement enzyme.

Because water has always been a priority for us, not just a trend, we have invested heavily from the very beginning in researching and producing dyeing products and processes to minimize or eliminate the use of this resource.

This commitment allowed us to scale our knowledge from colors to enzymes, progressing from the 1995 launch of Stone Wash NT Polvo (the first stone replacement powder enzyme, reformulated for display on the Asutex community space table) to Asucel WF, the first waterless enzyme launched in the market in 2020.

Today, we are promoting AsuseL G STONE (also featured on the Asutexcommunity space table), which marks a significant advancement over its predecessor by offering improved worker safety thanks to its granular format and enhanced overall performance.

Additionally, the denim garments showcased in the fashion installation were produced using Asucel G Stone, meaning without the use of stones or water in this processing stage.

This allowed us to close the loop and complete the cycle of the three spaces of the Made in España with the 30 years of work we have dedicated to this process.

That Asutex approach is rooted in service, fully focused on our customers’ needs, and always aiming to stay ahead when developing chemical products.

All strategies are guided by two core pillars: innovation and sustainability, which have been the foundation of our company since its creation in the 1980s.

We continuously explore how to improve operations and introduce new advancements by combining our chemical and textile technical expertise with disruptive processes.

Our goal is to create new pathways across the industry and ensure these ideas become real solutions that are scalable, traceable (all range of products we provide are certified), and competitive.

As a Spanish company, working alongside others in this show allowed us to see our own Asutex values reflected in our colleagues.

The collaboration quickly reveals how many core values we share, being creative, disruptive, and committed to a common purpose: building a better future for the denim industry.

There is a beauty and joy in finding partners who resonate with what we stand for. Spanish companies carry a strong mission and a deep-rooted textile heritage that endures over time.

We strive to deliver excellent service, remain technical, ethical and sustainable, and continuously innovate and reinvent ourselves, sharing these innovations so they can become a reality beyond Spanish borders.
