Founder’s Letter: An Update

I no longer have any shares or stake in Kingpins but I have accepted a new role. I don’t have any reports nor am I involved in any day-to-day operations with anything to do with the show I started 20 years ago. It was fun (mostly) running a startup and watching it grow — like a kid I brought into the world. Kingpins is an adult now and requires another sort of management and vision.
But I’m not going anywhere. I am happy to continue to share thoughts with all of you. Sometimes that communication will be in the form of Founder’s Letters like this one. But that’s not all I have planned for the future and that’s what I want to tell you about today.
I started a new entity. It’s called Jeansland. This is my new personal venture and it will be a podcast series as well as a news aggregator. You can hear me talking about why I am doing this at this link and you can see the site (it’s ready) here. Those that know me are aware that I love to meet as many people as possible in our industry and I want to share all that I know and hear. I also have a deep desire to link people to news and other sites they might not stumble across on their own. If you allow us, we will send you a news update each week with stories we like.
Kingpins has agreed to share Jeansland information with you and we will happily supply them our information.
I have thanked the Kingpins people and Messe Frankfurt for all that they have done and now I want to thank you, the Kingpins audience and supply base, for your support and enthusiasm for the last 20 years. As I have said various times before, we are not an actual family but we are an industry with common struggles and concerns and frequently common joy.
Wishing you all a happy 2025 and see you soon.
