Kingpins Celebrates 20 Years at NYC Show

The recent July 17-18 run of Kingpins New York at Pier 36/Basketball City in lower Manhattan drew more than 670 visitors from more than 300 companies, turnout numbers on par with past July shows.
Brands and retailers in attendance included Levi’s, Filson, Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Supreme, Derek Lam, Target, The Gap, Rag & Bone, Ralph Lauren, John Varvatos, Kontoor Brands, Calvin Klein, Tory Burch, Tommy Hilfiger and Zara.
Visitors met with representatives from more than 90 exhibitors and attended a slate of seminars and workshops. Attendees and exhibitors alike gathered information and inspiration from The Boxes installation, including another collection of Key Pieces to inspire; Future Fits (powered by CREORA®️ by Hyosung TNC); LDJ Museum, and Mycelium Constructs.
This is Kingpins’ 20th anniversary year and to celebrate, there were several special events and activities to mark the milestone.
Kingpins hosted its first fashion show in New York, following the success of a similar show at the Kingpins China event in Hangzhou in May. The LYCRA Company and Artistic Fabric Mills got things started with a product launch modeled by Broadway choreographer Christopher Rice-Thomson and his dance company.
Students from the Fashion Institute of Technology walked in the runway show and helped backstage. They also were on hand during the two-day trade show to help capture the scene on social media.
On opening night, attendees and exhibitors celebrated Kingpins’ 20th at a summer soiree that included wading pools, misting stations, drinks, and grilled bites.
The show’s success was made possible by everyone who attended and participated. In addition, thanks go to the sponsors: Artistic Milliners; Foison Textiles; Intertex; NZ Denim; Siddiqsons; Soorty Denim; TENCEL™ by Lenzing; Tuong Long; and Turteks Etiket.
