Kingpins Pops Up in Chengdu

Kingpins took its pop-up concept to a new city this month for the November 14-16 run of Kingpins Chengdu Pop-Up at Cosmo in the city’s Jinjiang District.

The event featured a lot of classic Kingpins Show offerings: a wholesale marketplace with denim mills and manufacturers; plenty of hands-on workshops; and initiatives designed to highlight new developments and sustainable practices.

For Kingpins first time in Chengdu – a vibrant city with a population of more than 21 million and a thriving fashion and music scene —there were nods to the local community, including a retail marketplace; a remake studio for customization; open mic music performances.

Visitors got to see the next generation of denim design talent in a fashion show featuring finalists from Advance Denim’s Digital Competition. And everyone also had the chance to snap a photo with our giant denim panda — a playful nod to Chengdu’s famous Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, the city’s government-funded nonprofit dedicated to panda conservation.

“Bringing Kingpins directly to consumers opens up an exciting new chapter for us,” said Kingpins CEO Vivian Wang. “Our Pop-Ups extend the spirit of innovation that has always driven our shows — allowing us to trial new concepts, discover new markets, and engage with people who share our love of denim’s craft and heritage. This is just the beginning, and we see it evolving with every city we visit.”
