Kingpins Transformers to Host Second Edition of Transformers: ED, a New Student-Focused Event, in Amsterdam on April 24
The event targeting fashion students seeks to prepare future denim industry professionals to tackle the social, environmental and economic challenges facing the denim industry.
NEW YORK | February 13, 2020 | Kingpins Transformers: ED, a new educational conference focusing on fashion students who are still in school and are about to enter the wider fashion industry, will host its second edition on April 24 in Amsterdam in collaboration with House of Denim, HTNK, and the denim educational platform Denim History. The event is sponsored by Saitex, Lenzing and FibreTrace.
As with all Kingpins Transformers conferences, the focus of Transformers: ED will be on the social, environmental and economic challenges facing the denim industry. The event will spotlight solutions being created by leading members of the denim community and help students understand the inefficiencies and threats facing the denim supply chain – as well as opportunities for improvement and innovation.
“We held our first ED conference in October 2019 at Ravensbourne University in London and the response was overwhelming,” said Andrew Olah, founder of Kingpins Transformers and Kingpins Show. “More than 300 students from 30 universities and fashion programs across Europe attended and received an in-depth and unvarnished crash course on the state of the denim supply chain. Our goal is to prepare students to enter our industry and hit the ground running with a clear understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the jeans industry. If we want to change the future of the denim industry, we must equip the young professionals entering the industry with the best information and insight.”
A complete list of speakers will announced soon, with representatives from companies including Lenzing, Tonello, DyStar, Kings of Indigo and more slated to participate in panels and presentations.
Transformers: ED will be hosted by Mohsin Sajid, founder of Denim History, and Mariette Hoitink, of HTNK and House of Denim. The event is open to students, exclusively. Interested students may secure a ticket here.
