What’s Brewing at Kingpins Amsterdam

Denim’s past, present, and wildly experimental future all collide at SugarFactory this October — here’s a taste of what’s in store.
- This year, Cone Denim is celebrating its 135th year and the iconic denim maker will celebrate with an installation of never-before-seen found garments at Kingpins Amsterdam that tells the story of Cone, as well as highlights the durability of denim — both its strength and its popularity.
- Endrime’s Mohsin Sajid is releasing Born to Fade: Raw to Washed, written by Zennure Danisman — 75 finishes deep into the art and science of denim washing.
- Adriano Goldschmied’s daughters, Marta and Glenda — a.k.a. Gold Girls Co. — join forces with Officina39 on a project so unconventional it almost defies description: using marble dust and scratch-and-win cards to explore permanence, identity, ambition, and the paths we carve through life.
- For The Indigo Crayon Project, Jeroen van Kooten will tell the improbable story of how he created a natural indigo crayon with help from a 17th-century Dutch windmill still grinding pigments — and a practicing apiarist.
- Dutch artist Nouch teams up with Stella Blu for a collab that plays with social construct — giving Nouch’s signature whimsical characters a denim makeover. Material Intent By Nouch x Stella Blu x Kingpins renders the artists’ distinctive work on an indigo blue tote, with a very limited number given away daily. Nouch will be on hand to sign her work.
- Lil Denim Jean shines its spotlight on Charlie Arnott, a London-based, Central Saint Martins-trained designer who mines medieval garments and historical objects for inspiration, then reconstructs them through unexpected materials, silhouettes, and layering.
Kingpins Amsterdam runs Oct. 14–15 at SugarFactory.
